After he immigrated to the United States, he used the name Charles Franklin Rutz.
Born: December 7, 1820, perhaps in German Bohemia (per the 1910 US census).
Died: January 30, 1912, Crawford County, Missouri
Buried: Oak Hill, Missouri
Last Residence: On his farm located between Owensville, Missouri and Cuba, Missouri

Charles and Franklin were not names used in Germany in 1820. Carl and Freidrich were very commonly used.
Perhaps Charles Franklin Rutz was Carl Freidrich Ruthz in Germany.

Sailed from Bremen Germany on November 14, 1854 to New Orleans, Louisiana on the ship Bremen bark AEOLUS (arrived in 1855?) with Wilhelm and Auguste. Caroline had died during the voyage.

According to the passenger list, it looks like Carl Rutz and his family came from Charbrow, Pomerania.
